The Morton Township Library holds a world of knowledge within your reach. It is your one-stop location for answers to questions in this world. The library, on a daily basis, benefits its users as well as the community it serves. Donating to the library will help enhance the services offered. There are several ways to contribute to the success of the Library. Donations may be made to:
* The Building Fund * The Operating Fund * The Endowment Fund
DONATING TO THE BUILDING FUND A new addition is planned for the Morton Township
Library. On a daily basis, the library strives to meet the
ever-changing
informational, educational, and recreational needs of the community.
The space in the current library building is
very limited and there is a strong need for a larger children's
programming
area, a meeting room for library and community events, individual and
group
study spaces, a teen area, more technology space to embrace the most
current
technology trends, and a larger area to shelve the growing physical
collections. Please consider a donation
to the building fund to help ensure the future expansion of the
library.
The following memorial donations have been made to the building fund
in 2010:
In Memory of WILLIAM HOEFT
In Memory of HAROLD F. LAMB
In Memory of LEA BRITTEN
Monetary donations to the building fund can be dropped off at the library or the Morton Township Hall or sent to: MORTON TOWNSHIP P.O. BOX 2 MECOSTA, MI 49332
DONATING TO THE OPERATING FUND There are several ways to donate to the library's operating fund: *Book Donations *Memorial Donations *Monetary Donations for Special Programs *General Donations
Book donations are accepted for use in the library or for the Friends Book Sales. The library will accept fiction and nonfiction books (copyright date 2000 or newer), all cookbooks, arts and craft books, classics, children's books, biographies of artists and their artwork, books on CD/cassette, VHS and DVDs. The library does not accept textbooks or Reader's Digest Condensed Books. All books must be in good condition at the discretion of the library staff.
For over 30 years, Morton Township Library has honored
loved ones with the Memorial Bookshelf. A memorial gift is placed in a
book fund and an appropriate book plate is placed in the volume to be
added to the library's collection. You may express your gratitude and,
at the same time, honor or remember a loved one by making a
commemorative gift to the Morton Township Library.
Monetary donations for special programs such as summer humanities programs for adults and/or children, the library's literacy program, children's programs, technology programs, etc. are accepted and encouraged. The most recent donation for a special program was made IN MEMORY OF MAISIE CHAPIN for children's programs.
General donations are welcomed and can
be large or small. General donations will help ensure the ongoing
services provided by the library.
The Volunteers of Morton Township Library give over 100
hours per month to the library. From the simplest tasks to more
complicated tasks, volunteers give of their time and talent to enhance
the services of the library. If you are interested in volunteering,
please stop by the library to fill out a Volunteer Application.
DONATING TO THE ENDOWMENT FUND The Morton Township Library Endowment Fund was
established in 2003 to enrich traditional tax-based support for
the Library through gifts from individuals and organizations. The Endowment
Fund provides you with an opportunity to give any gift, large or
small, to support the work of the Library. All gifts to the Endowment
Fund are used to build the Fund's principal. The
earnings on the investments are used for education, special projects and
resources. This makes your gift a gift that lasts forever. MEMORIALS
or SPECIAL GIFTS may be made in memory of, or in honor of a relative or
friend. A BEQUEST BY WILL may be made as well as the Endowment Fund
may be named as BENEFICIARY of a life insurance policy. MATCHING GIFT
FUND PROGRAMS through corporations are more than welcome.
