LIBRARY RECEIVES BOOKS FOR CHILDREN GRANT
Morton Township Library
has been awarded a 2010 Libri Foundation Grant through the foundation's
Books for Children program. The Libri Foundation, based in Eugene,
Oregon is a nationwide non-profit organization that donates new, quality
children's books to small, rural public libraries in the United States.
The
library received 82 children's books valued at $1400. The Friends of
the Morton Township Library contributed $350, raised at their annual
book sale, to the project, which the foundation matched at a 2-to-1
ratio. Thanks to a generous donation to the Libri Foundation from Hal
Berenson and Laura Ackerman, the library also received a bonus of $350
worth of math and science books.
The books were selected from a
list of titles provided by the Foundation that reflected the very best
of children's literature published since 2004. All titles have won
awards or have been highly recommended by recognized authorities in the
library and education fields.
Be sure to stop by the children's
area to check out these outstanding new additions to our collection!
THANK YOU, LIBRI FOUNDATION!
